About
All experience is valuable, even if it leads you down a different path from the one you set out on.
I originally trained as a doctor, but a mid-life pivot led me to Sturt School for Wood in 2023. The son of an architect, I have always been interested in the integration of aesthetics, function, and craft; for me, furniture is the distillation of this at a human scale.
I draw inspiration from geometry, art, architecture and nature. Learning from classic pieces informs where I am coming from, and a mix of traditional and modern techniques allows me to arrive at creative solutions in timber design.
Being surrounded by capable and creative people at Sturt was a joy and privilege. After the certificate IV in furniture design & manufacture, I spent another year there as a resident before venturing out in my own workshop in Bowral, where I predominantly make commission pieces.
If you are interested in any of my designs, or would like to discuss a new one, please get in touch!
